Welcome

Welcome to my e-Portfolio. My name is Besart Hysniu, and I’m a Licensed School Psychologist practicing in British Columbia. I completed my Master of Education in School and Applied Child Psychology at the University of Calgary in 2024, and I’m now in full-time practice with the Chilliwack School District (SD33).

This e-Portfolio was developed as part of that master’s program — most of the material here was created during my training at UCalgary as I worked through coursework, practica, and my internship year. I’ve kept it intact because it remains a useful window into the foundations of my practice: the frameworks I came up through, how I learned to think about assessment and intervention, and the reflective work that shaped the psychologist I am today.

As you navigate the site, you’ll find a professional timeline that recounts the many roles that built toward school psychology — including my work as a Temporary Teacher on Call across Learning Assistance, Resource Teacher, and Classroom Teacher settings. Each of those roles shaped how I perceive classroom needs and how they connect to school psychology practice.

You’ll also find a reflective piece discussing my personal philosophy and the psychological frameworks that drew me to the field. Alongside that, I’ve broken down the ten NASP (National Association of School Psychologists) domains of practice in relation to my training experience, with course artifacts and sample work illustrating how I engaged with each — from data-based decision making to building safe, inclusive learning environments.

My curriculum vitae is also available here, and it’s the section that reflects where I am today: now licensed with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC), contributing to district psychoeducational practice, and active in research on school re-entry and system-level supports for students with complex needs.

In the final section, you’ll find my ‘Targeted Areas for Growth’ (TAG) assessment from the end of my program — short- and long-term goals captured at that moment. Some I’ve since met; others continue to shape my development. I’ve left it as a snapshot of where I stood graduating from the program.

Thank you for taking the time to explore. I hope what you find here gives a useful sense of both the foundation I built during my training and the practice I’ve carried forward into the field.
